Goals of American Flyers Race Pacers
For Race directors:
For Race directors:
- Help you to grow your race and make it successful.
- Line up race participants at the starting line according to pace time to keep the race start smooth.
- Act as volunteers as well as participants, helping with directions as well as in emergency situations.
- Help at aide stations by getting those in their pace groups water, fuel, and any other aide that is needed.
- Keep runners moving and motivate and help them to get to the finish line happy.
- MOTIVATION--our main goal is to help you achieve that PR, complete your first marathon or half marathon, Boston Qualify, or just finish the race with a smile on your face!
- Help you at aide stations if you need it.
- Pace based on the course (not a flat average pace)-this means we will slow down when we hit a hill and speed up when we go back down. We do the pace calculations for each mile for you.
- Each pacer will carry a yellow pacing sign. This is their expected finish time. It will be visible at the start of the race so you can line up with them and they will hold them up during the race so that you can spot them along the course and know about where you will finish in the race.
